Edappal: Biometric punching system will start functioning in government, semi-government, autonomous and grant-in-aid institutions in Kerala from Sunday onwards. With this, employees who attend office on time and work overtime will receive additional benefits.
The punching system is linked to the Service and Payroll Administrative Repository of Kerala (SPARK), an attempt to bring the payroll and finance-related activities of more than five lakh government employees under a single application. In the first phase, the system is introduced in collectorates, directorates and head offices of state departments.
Late arrivals will be automatically recorded as leave in SPARK and will affect salary. Meanwhile, the punching system will be implemented in all other government offices before March 31.
