Bengaluru: The custody period of Bineesh Kodiyeri with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in the financial deals related to drug case, will expire on Saturday. Bineesh has been interrogated for the last 8 days at the ED Zonal Office regarding the benami transactions and other deals with drug case accused Anoop Mohammed.
Bineesh was brought to the zonal office on Friday by 8 in the morning. The interrogation started at 10 am and continued till 8.30 pm. The officials asked about the information collected during the raid at the residences of Bineesh and those suspected to be his benamis.
Bineesh's custody will expire on Saturday by 3 pm. He will be produced at a special court in Bengaluru in the evening. ED is likely to seek an extension for further interrogation on the basis of the raid conducted in Kerala. Though Bineesh is cooperating with the interrogation, he is not giving satisfactory responses regarding the benami transactions, the ED sources said.
Abdul Latheef, who is assumed to be a benami of Bineesh, and Kozhikode native Rasheed, who was partner of Anoop Mohammed's Hyat Restaurant started in Bengaluru in 2015, will also be questioned along with Bineesh. It is learnt that Bineesh admitted he had business partnership with Abdul Latheef.
There are unconfirmed reports that Abdul Latheef has been taken into custody. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is likely to book case against Bineesh for consuming drugs and providing financial aid for drug business. NCB will also request for his custody in the court.
Meanwhile, investigation started into the benami transactions of Bineesh in Bengaluru. As Anoop Mohammed was his benami, probe is progressing about his businesses and the partners of restaurant and royal suite apartment in Kalyan Nagar. ED has been informed that Bineesh had benami deals with his friends in Karnataka.
