Thiruvananthapuram: Police have arrested a youth in connection with the death of a child following a bike accident in Kovalam. The accused, Aashiq, a Kaniyapuram resident, has been charged with culpable homicide.

On March 30, Yuvan, a four-year-old, died after Aashiq's bike hit him while he was crossing the road with his mother. The police claim that Aashiq did not stop the bike despite being asked to do so.

Damaged parts of the bike were found at the scene of the accident, and the police zeroed in on Aashiq after examining CCTV footage and inspecting service centers.

The police also revealed that Aashiq had engaged in racing in the area on occasion.
