BEVCO outlets start liquor sale without token temporarily
Alappuzha: The beverages outlets under BEVCO have started selling liquor without token after technical glitches in the BevQ app. An official order on quashing the token system temporarily was issued on Friday.
The BEVCO authority was considering the proposal to cancel the token system after examining fall in liquor sale at beverages outlets compared to bars.
A few days back, staff at the outlets were directed to sell liquor without the token. But as only oral direction was given, the employees were not ready to accept this.
They asserted that they will not sell liquor without token unless the authority issues an order. The employees noted that if the Vigilance initiates action over it, they will be trapped.
Amidst these disputes, the BEVCO has issued an order allowing liquor supply without token after an error occurred in the app.
At the same time, it is alleged that the pressure from liquor companies also influenced the BEVCO to cancel the token system.
