Bev Q app malfunctions again; Bevco incurs loss
Thiruvananthapuram: The loss incurred by Bevco has increased after its virtual queue app, Bev Q, malfunctioned. There were only a few tokens available in most shops on Saturday, causing reduction in sales of liquor.
But when booking was made on the basis of pin code, the booking rate came down further. The authorities are trying to figure out the reason behind this. They have also asked app manufacturers to fix the problems in the app. In certain shops, the tokens did not mention time to buy the liquor. Meanwhile, there was large crowds in front of most bars.
The authorities have informed the government that the app has caused loss to the Beverages Corporation. There is a possibility that the app would be withdrawn. Minister TP Ramakrishnan clarified that the app is just a temporary system to control the crowd.
There has also been considerable reduction in the number of people using the app. 4.5 lakh tokens used to be distributed daily in the initial days but on Saturday, only 2.5 lakh tokens were given.
