‘Better shut down’, says HC over non-payment of salaries to KSRTC employees

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Friday rapped the KSRTC over non-payment of salaries to its employees. “Better shut down,” the court orally remarked, quoted reports.

The court was hearing the plea filed by the employees. According to the plea, KSRTC has not yet paid the salary for January.

Intervening to the issue, the court directed KSRTC to pay the salaries at the earliest and it cannot entertain further delay. As a response, the Kerala government before the court maintained that salaries will be given by February 15. The court added that it will not stay any attempts pursued by KSRTC to increase revenue.

Meanwhile, reacting to the court’s “Better shut down” remark, KSRTC cited how shutting down may affect commuters. The court reportedly replied that people will find alternatives.
