Basketball player among those killed in Vadakkencherry bus accident

Palakkad: Adding to the tragedy, a basketball player Rohith Raj is reportedly among those who lost their lives in the Vadakkencherry bus accident which claimed 9 lives on Wednesday. Rohith Raj (24), a native of Nadathara in Thrissur was a passenger of the KSRTC bus that had met with the accident.

Rohith was a member of the basketball teams of Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram and Naipunnya College, Cherthala. He also played for the Pathanamthitta district basketball team. He was a national korfball player too.

A few months back, Rohit got employed in a firm in Coimbatore. According to reports, he met with the accident while returning to Coimbatore after the Pooja holidays. Currently, the youth’s body is being kept at a hospital in Alathur.

Rohith’s mother Lathika and sister Lakshmi Raj are also basketball players. Lakshmi Raj took part in the national under-18 basketball camp this year.

Five students, three KSRTC passengers and a teacher were killed after the tourist bus, carrying students of Baselios Vidyanikethan Senior Secondary School, collided with a KSRTC bus in Palakkad's Vadakkencherry.
