According to the police, Mukesh had sexually abused the woman after promising to marry her and swindled around 40 sovereigns of gold, a laptop and lakhs of money from her.

Pathanapuram: The Pathanapuram police on Friday arrested a man in connection with the suicide of a woman bank official in Anchal. The accused has been identified as the victim’s friend Mukesh (40), a native of Agastya Code, Kollam.

According to the police, Mukesh had sexually abused the woman after promising to marry her and swindled around 40 sovereigns of gold, a laptop and lakhs of money from her.

Reportedly, no complaints were lodged by the woman’s relatives in connection with the suicide.

The accused has been booked on charges of rape and abetment to suicide.

The victim, who worked as the assistant manager of a bank in Pathanapuram, was found hanging inside her rented house on October 30, 2022.
