Bank manager found hanging inside bank in Kannur


A diary was found in which Swapna stated that she could not perform well in the job and this could have led to the suicide, said SI K T Sandeep. The police added that there is no mystery behind the incident.

Koothuparamba (Kannur): A bank manager was found hanging inside the bank at Palathumkara here. The deceased is identified as Thrissur Mannuthy native K S Swapna (40), manager of Canara Bank Koothuparamba branch.

The bank employees who arrived at the bank on Friday by 8.45 am found Swapna hanging from ceiling. Though she was rushed to taluk hospital, her life could not be saved. A police team led by Koothuparamba ACP K G Suresh Kumar and SI K T Sandeep examined the bank and checked the CCTV footage.

Swapna had reached the office by 8.10 am and hanged self by 8.17 am as seen in the visuals. A diary was found in which Swapna stated that she could not perform well in the job and this could have led to the suicide, said SI K T Sandeep. The police added that there is no mystery behind the incident.

Swapna came to Koothuparamba from Thrissur in September after she got promotion. She was staying in a rented house in Nirmalagiri VPS Housing Colony. Her husband Sabu had died of heart attack two years ago. Swapna is survived by children Niranjan and Nivedika. Both are students in Kendriya Vidyalaya in Puranattukara.

The body was taken to Mannuthy after post-mortem at Thalassery general hospital. Last rites will be held on Saturday.
