Malappuram: The restrictions imposed on rock blasting and mining due to heavy rains have been lifted. The Department of Mining and Geology has issued the order in this regard claiming that the ban is lifted as rains have abated in the state.
Meanwhile, it is notified that the restriction will continue in places including Malappuram where massive floods and landslides occurred. It is noted in the order that the District Disaster Management Authority should decide on the lifting of the ban.
Malappuram Collector who is also the chairman of Disaster Management Authority has decided to extend the ban in the district for one more week.
The order imposing a ban on rock blasting and mining in the state was issued on August 9. It was issued following the direction of the Disaster Management Authority due to heavy rains and floods. But the government decided to withdraw the ban soon after the rains abated.
