Balussery mob attack: Probe team excludes names of DYFI, CPM workers from list of accused

Kozhikode: Police are trying to save DYFI and CPM workers who were booked for allegedly assaulting Jishnu, a party worker in Balassuery. In the remand report submitted before the court, the police managed to omit the names of Najaf Harris, a DYFI worker, and Shalidh, a CPM sympathiser. Earlier, CPM was putting pressure on the probe team to exclude them from the accused list.

In the remand report, it was claimed that Jishnu was manhandled by a group of men for tearing down SDPI posters. Police named SDPI and Muslim League workers for the attack. Najaf, and Shalidh, are the 11th and 12th accused in the case. The remand report noted that the duo did not take part in the assault.

Further, the remand report even fails to mention the political party to which Najaf and Shalidh belong. Najaf was among those who handed over Jishnu to the police. He even gave a statement to the police alleging that Jishnu used a machete.
