Balagopal's budget to include new announcements; presentation on June 4

Thiruvananthapuram: There will be new announcements in the budget to be presented by finance minister K N Balagopal on June 4. A budget speech also will take place after revising the budget presented by previous finance minister Dr Thomas Isaac in January this year. However, the speech would not be very long as normal.

The consolatory steps to be taken by the government will be announced in the budget. Also the schemes to implement extreme poverty eradication policy will be formed. No fundamental changes will be made to the budget prepared by Thomas Isaac. All schemes announced in the budget will continue, but also include some additional projects.

The recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission came after Thomas Isaac presented the budget in January. So, the allocation of funds need to be changed in accordance with it. The new budget will include the corrections in this regard.

Though the revised budget will be presented on June 4, it cannot be passed immediately but have to wait till the next session. A revised Vote on Account will be presented in the assembly on June 10 to manage the expenses till the budget is passed.
