Thiruvananthapuram: Investigation team probing the mystery behind the death of violinist Balabhaskar recreated the journey just before the accident.
The probe team recreated the last moments before the accident using another Innova car to find if the driver had been wearing seat belt when the original accident took place.
Meanwhile, the team conducted forensic inspections in the car that met with the accident. Officials from forensic and motor vehicles departments along with mechanics held the inspections.
Investigations after collecting the vehicle’s seat belts revealed that the driver was not wearing seat belt when the accident occurred. The investigation also revealed that only the person sitting in the front passenger seat had been wearing the seatbelt.
The forensic tests were held as there were contradictory statements from witnesses as to who was driving the car. The team also wanted to find out if the accident was pre-planned.
The Innova car in which Balabhaskar and family were travelling met with the accident on September 24, 2018. Balabhaskar died at a hospital while his two-year-old daughter Thejaswini Bala died on the spot. Balabhaskar’s wife and driver were critically injured in the accident.
