Balabhaskar’s death: Kerala police give green signal for CBI probe
Thiruvananthapuram: In the death of noted violinist Balabhaskar, Kerala Police expressed willingness to hand over the case to CBI. It is hinted that Kerala police chief Loknath Behera will inform the state government that the department has no issues with CBI probe in the case. At present, Crime Branch is probing the case.
Earlier, Balabhaskar’s father CK Unni who visited Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan demanded CBI probe in the case. He moved the complaint suspecting foul play in the death of his son.
Chief Minister has forwarded CK Unni's letter seeking CBI probe to DGP.
However, involvement of gold smuggling racket in the accident is also suspected after his former manager was nabbed in a gold smuggling case at Thiruvananthapuram airport. But the probe team failed to find any links of the racket to the accident.
Balabhaskar, 40, was travelling with his wife and two-year-old daughter from Thrissur to the state capital, when their car met with an accident in the wee hours of September 25 last year, in Thiruvananthapuram.
While the daughter died on the spot, Balabhaskar passed away on October 2. His wife and driver escaped with injuries.
