Balabhaskar and family

Thiruvananthapuram: Violinist Balabhaskar’s wife Lakshmi informed the court that the car which caused the accident and claimed the lives of Bhalabhaskar and daughter Tejaswini Bala was overspeeding. Lakshmi identified Palakkad native Arjun Narayanan, who was the car driver and the only accused in the case. She discarded allegations of mysteries behind shifting Bhalabhaskar from the Medical College to a private hospital.

The case is under consideration of the chief judicial magistrate K Vidyadharan. CBI public prosecutor Arun K Antony appeared for the prosecution.

The car in which Balabhaskar and his family were travelling met with an accident at Pallipuram in Thiruvananthapuram on September 25, 2018. The couple’s only daughter Tejaswini Bala died on the spot and Bhalabhaskar passed away a few days after the accident.

The case which was investigated by the local police and later by Crime Branch was handed over to the CBI following the demand of Bhalabhaskar’s parents. The court had scrapped the family’s petition which urged a reinvestigation by accusing CBI of lapses.
