PC George
Kochi: Court granted bail to Kerala Janapaksham leader PC George in the case related to his controversial speech at Ananthapuri Hindu ‘Mahasammelan' due to the prosecution's failure in justifying the reason for his arrest. Mathrubhumi News accessed the bail order issued by the court.
According to the order, the court has identified that the prosecution failed to produce before the court whether there were other similar cases registered against him. Also, charges against him did not require the judge to wait for hearing the prosecution to grant bail. Notably, police had complained that the version of prosecution was not heard.
Earlier, PC George obtained bail from the magistrate of Vanjiyoor court, Asha Koshi under the conditions of not repeating any similar hate speeches or attempting to influence the witnesses in the case.
Police had sought custody of PC George for 14 days. In the remand report, police opined that if the former MLA is let out on bail, then it is likely he may threaten the witnesses.
The remand report stated that PC George had attempted to create a communal divide in the society.
