New Delhi: Delhi Rose Avenue court on Monday ordered police to file a case against KT Jaleel, MLA, over his ‘Azad Kashmir’ statement and charge him with relevant sections.

The order came in the plea filed by Supreme Court advocate GS Maniyan. He had asked the court to charge sedition. However, the court has not specified the sections in the order.

The Tilak Marg police had earlier taken a position that a court order was required to initiate proceedings against Jaleel.

Earlier, Kerala police too had filed a case following a similar court order.

Jaleel, a CPM fellow-traveller and independent MLA from Tavanur, landed in trouble after he mentioned Azad Kashmir and India-occupied Kashmir in a Facebook post. He later removed the portion from the post and said he was quoting the terms and they are not his opinion.
