Sabarimala: Thousands of Ayyappa devotees will witness ‘Makaravilakku’ at Sabarimala temple on Saturday. The deeparadhana will be held between 6.30 pm and 6.40 pm.

The Makarasamkrama Pooja will take place at 8.45 pm. Around 1.5 lakh devotees are expected to take part in the ceremony and witness makara jyothi, the holy light.

According to the police, only 40,000 people will be permitted in the Sannidhanam.

On the day of Makaravilakku, an annual festival that falls on Makar Sankranti day, it is believed that Lord Ayyappa asserts himself as a holy light in the sky to bless his devotees.
