Availability of drinking water during night a concern in Sabarimala

Sabarimala: Basic amenities, including drinking water and toilets, are among the major concerns of pilgrims who visit Sabarimala temple every year. The Devaswom Board is providing drinking water to pilgrims in several areas.

However, the main issue that pilgrims are facing currently is the unavailability of drinking water after the temple closes for the night.

The previous day, a devotee who was staying at Kailas pilgrim centre went out to get hot water for drinking. He went to a restaurant as he could not find a drinking water supply anywhere else.

The restaurant told him that they provide hot water only to customers. He had to drink tea and have a snack inorder to get water from the restaurant. There was also another complaint this season that a restaurant charged Rs 20 for hot water from a pilgrim.

This is becoming a matter of concern for those reaching the temple.
