Kozhikode: The face of Kozhikode’s football love, NP Chandrasekharan (Auto Chandran), died on Wednesday. He was undergoing treatment for the past two weeks. The 84-year-old has been an exciting presence at football tournaments since 1950.

Chandran had close relationship with several national footballers. He is survived by wife Pushpavalli, sons Chandraprasad, Pushparaj and daughter Ambili.

The Brazil fan is leaving this world with one unfinished dream; to watch the football world cup in person. Even though he was happy that he could watch the games live on television unlike earlier, he always hoped to see it in person at least once.

Chandran even took a passport for the purpose. But difficulty in finding money for the journey prevented him from accomplishing the dream.
