Thiruvananthapuram: Following the controversy in relation to the PhD dissertation of Chintha Jerome, similar allegations are likely to be raised against several other political leaders. Allegations of plagiarism and fundamental errors were raised against the dissertation submitted by the Kerala State Youth Commission chairperson. The Save University Campaign committee has begun an investigation into the authenticity of the doctorates of several prominent people.

The dissertation submitted by Jerome incorrectly attributed the poetry collection ‘Vazhakkula’ to Malayalam poet Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon.

The dissertation mentions Vyloppilli as the author of ‘Vazhakkula’, while it was originally written by Changampuzha Krishna Pillai. In addition to this, the name ‘Vyloppilli’ has been inaccurately written as ‘Vyloppalli’ in the dissertation, according to reports.

The dissertation, titled ‘the ideological foundation of Malayalam commercial cinema in the neoliberal times’, was submitted at Kerala University and was awarded the doctorate in 2021. The dissertation was prepared under the guidance of Dr PP Ajayakumar, former Pro Vice Chancellor of Kerala University.

After the controversy surfaced, Jerome had come out stating that it was a mistake on her side.

The Save University Campaign committee claimed that they were aiming to expose the inefficiency in the functioning of Kerala University.
