Kollam: More female students who attended NEET examination lodged complaints against the frisking procedures before the examination centre. On Tuesday, three more girls lodged complaints to the Kottarakkara DySP. A student who was forced to remove her undergarment told Mathrubhumi News that she had to attend the examination by pulling her hair to the front to cover her chest.

She attended the examination from a centre at Ayoor. “The students have gone through a humiliating experience. When we were directed to undergo the frisking process, the hooks made of metal objects were found during screening. Along with many girls, I was asked to remove my innerwear from a nearby room. Inside the room, there were no place to keep the innerwears separately. The girls were forced to take off the innerwears and pile them up on a single table in the room. I was not sure whether I would get my innerwear back after the examination,” the girl said.

She said that there was a huge rush to get back the innerwear from the room after the exam. “Luckily I got my undergarment back after rushing into the room wading the crowd. Some girls were found crying standing near the room. Due to the rush, a few of them left holding the innerwear crumpling it as there was no place to wear it. It was very difficult for me to attend the examination without innerwear in a classroom with both girls and boys. I had to put my hair to the front while attending the examination,” shared the student.

On Monday, Chadayamangalam police registered a case against the staff of the agency entrusted to conduct the NEET examination here, based on a complaint lodged by a Sooranad native. Following the reports of harassment surfaced, Kerala State Youth Commission has also booked a prima facie case and directed the district police chief and college authorities to submit a report.

Meanwhile, the Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan ordered a probe over the complaints received.
