Attappadi encounter was fake, says tribal leaders
Palakkad: Tribal group leader Murugan disclosed that the Maoists were killed in a fake encounter in Attappadi. He also revealed that the Maoists were willing to surrender and the discussions in this regard were going on.
Adivasi Thaikulam Sangham vice president Sivani who acted as mediator for the discussions also stated that the Maoists were ready to surrender. The Maoists had informed the same during the discussion with the police. Aravindan’s wife and their six-month-old baby also was with the team. They also were willing to surrender, Sivani said.
Meanwhile, chief minister said in the assembly that the firing of Thunderbolt police was an act of self-defence. An unexpected firing occurred against the Thunderbolt personnel who were searching Manjakandi area inside Attappadi forests. With this, they fired back in self-defence, the CM said. However, the opposition alleged that the encounter was pre-planned.
