IPC 333 slapped on DYFI workers for attacking security guard in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: More charges were imposed on DYFI workers accused of attacking a security staff of Kozhikode medical college. The accused were charged with IPC 333, voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servants from his/her duties.

The move comes in the wake of the court pronouncing the verdict on Friday over a bail plea moved by the accused. Earlier, Police slapped non-bailable charges for offences under the Kerala Healthcare Service Persons and Healthcare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) act against the accused. Further charges, including assault, wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt, voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servants from duty and unlawful assembly were also imposed on the accused.

The incident relating to the case took place on August 31. A gang of DYFI men attacked the security guard following a quarrel over restricting a couple from visiting the medical superintendent.
