Attack on Rahul Gandhi’s office: Congress stages protest, violence erupts in various places

Kalpetta: Youth Congress activists marched to the streets in various parts of the state to protest against the SFI attack on Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi’s office on Friday. The angry protesters destroyed the flex boards of CPM in many places. A protest ended up in violence at Kalpetta here.

SFI, the student organisation of CPM led the protest march alleging that Rahul Gandhi failed to intervene in the issue of creating buffer zones around forests in the hilly areas of Kerala as per the Supreme Court order Eco-Sensitive Zone. The protesters also destroyed the furniture at the MP’s office.

Following this, a protest march led by Congress turned violent in Wayanad. Police and the activists clashed with each other during the ruckus. The protesters snatched lathi from the police and threw it.

A protest march to the SP office also turned violent in the district. Congress leaders including MLA T Siddique are participating in the protest march.

It is learnt that the protest is being spread to various parts of the state. Congress activists have been staging a protest in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad.

In Kochi, Youth Congress activists set a tyre on fire as staging a protest. Meanwhile, a huge police force has been deployed to the AKG centre as per the reports on the protest march.
