Thenmala: The Madurai Railway special police on Monday nabbed the accused in connection with the attack on a Malayali gatekeeper in Tenkasi. The accused has been identified as Aneesh, a native of Pathanapuram. He was nabbed from Sengottai, Tenkasi.
As per reports, Aneesh is also an accused in a sexual assault case registered at Kunnikkodu police station. He had been working as a painting labourer since being released on bail.
According to the police, a probe centred around CCTV footage, khaki pants and paint stain on a pair of chappals found from the area had led to the accused, who is reportedly a sexual pervert.
The incident pertaining to the gatekeeper assault case took place on February 16 around 8 pm at Pavoorchatram railway gate.
The woman, a native of Kollam, was brutally assaulted by the accused, who dragged her through the railway track and attempted to sexually abuse her. However, as she screamed for help, he fled the place.
Following which, the woman who was acutely injured in the attack was rushed to a hospital in Tirunelveli by the locals..
According to reports, the accused arrived near the railway gate when the woman was on a phone call. He thrashed her face with a stone and attempted to rape her.
Meanwhile, the victim’s parents alleged that the area lacked proper security.
