Incidentally, Indian Medical Association (IMA) called for a strike over the incident. Doctors in Kozhikode will boycott work (OP) from 6 am to 8 pm on Monday.

IMA alleged that the government's repeated assurances on curbing attacks on medical professionals remain as words only. The association also warned of state-wide protest, if there are no proactive interventions.
