The death of 10-year-old Nida Fathima, a cycle polo player from Alappuzha, still remains mysterious even months after her passing in Nagpur. The family has accused the police of failing to file an FIR and provide the forensic lab report, leading them to form an action committee to address the issue.
Nida Fathima was a member of the Kerala Cycle Polo team and travelled to Nagpur to participate in the National Junior Cycle Polo Championship. According to her family, she started feeling unwell a day after arriving on December 20, 2022. She was then rushed to the hospital, where she passed away after her condition deteriorated, allegedly due to an injection administered to her.
Nida Fathima's team was one of the two teams representing separate cycle polo associations from Kerala. After obtaining a court order, they were allowed to participate in the championship. However, the family alleges that the organisers and the Cycle Polo Federation failed to provide proper accommodation and food for the team. This led them to stay in a temporary shelter. Although the Federation has denied these allegations, the family demands an investigation into Nida Fathima's death.
