Assembly session preponed; date rescheduled for January 29

Thiruvananthapuram: The budget session of Kerala assembly will start on January 29, one day earlier than the schedule date. The rescheduling was decided following the request of UDF MLAs as their protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act by forming a human map is scheduled for January 30. The cabinet decided to inform the Governor regarding the change in schedule.

The assembly session will start on January 29 with the Governor’s policy address. The assembly will not be meeting on January 30. The assembly will disburse on January 31 after paying tribute to late MLA Thomas Chandy.

Motion of thanks on the policy address will be moved from February 3 to 5. The Panchayati Raj and Municipal Amendment Bills to increase the number of wards in local bodies will be considered on February 6.

Nine bills replacing ordinances are under consideration of the government. The advisory committee will decide on January 29 which bills should be taken on which date. Budget session is scheduled for February 7. The assembly will be disbursed on February 12 and will meet again in March to pass the full budget.
