Malappuram: UDF has initiated discussions regarding seat sharing ahead of the upcoming assembly election. Congress leader Oommen Chandy and opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala arrived at Panakkad and held discussion with Muslim League state president Hyderali Shihab Thangal.
Veteran leaders of Muslim League including P K Kunhalikutty and KPA Majeed also attended the meeting. It is learnt that Hyderali Thangal explained to Congress leaders their demands in seat sharing. As per reports, League demanded five extra seats.
Ramesh Chennithala and Oommen Chandy held discussion with the Muslim League leaders ahead of the Kerala visit of Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday.
Rahul is likely to hold talks with League leaders at Karipur airport. Congress MP K C Venugopal and KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran also will participate in this meeting.
Meanwhile, P K Kunhalikutty responded that only unofficial talks are being held regarding seat sharing and the official discussion will be held at Thiruvananthapuram.
