Assembly election: EC likely to issue notification in February
Thiruvananthapuram: The Election Commission is likely to issue notifications for the Assembly elections in 5 states including Kerala in February.
A final decision in this regard will be taken after a team of officials from the Central Election Commission visits Kerala. At present, the EC team is in West Bengal and is likely to come to Kerala by the end of January.
The Assembly election is likely to be held in one phase. The notification is likely to be issued in February and the whole process would be completed by April 30. Once the election notification is issued, the Model Code of Conduct will be in effect in the state.
Political parties will get a chance to meet the EC team to convey their concerns and complaints.
Earlier, it was said that the EC team would visit Kerala on January 20 and 21. However, the visit was postponed as the team was visiting West Bengal and Assam.
