Kochi: Renowned artist Sabarinath known for his companionship with master director G Aravindan passed away. He was 87.

Sabarinath was known for his cartoon character named Ramu that appeared in Aravindan’s cartoon series ‘Cheriya Manushayarum Valiya Lokavum’ in Mathrubhumi Weekly. He had quite a long stint at FACT as commercial artist and later engaged in freelance works.

He designed cover page for many books. Apart from that, his artistic works became attention grabbers in various art exhibitions across the state. He has received numerous awards in the field of art.

Sabarinath hails from Kizhakkedath family in Thirunakkara, Kottayam. He had been residing at Style N Clave apartment near Model Engineering College, Thrikkakara.

He is married to Sarojam. Amritha Nair, Shyam Sabarinath, Arathi Ajith Kumar are their children. Harikumar, Sindhu and Ajith Kumar are his sons-in-law.

The body of the deceased will be kept for public homage at his residence from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday. Funeral will be held at Athani cemetry in Kakkanad.
