The AISF leader who filed the complaint; a screengrab from the video in which a person is seen kicking an AISF leader | Screengrabs
Ettumanoor: The long-standing fight between two left students organisations took an ugly turn on Friday when an AISF leader filed a complaint with the police that SFI leaders molested her and shouted at her that they will impregnate her. The incident happened during the senate elections of Mahatma Gandhi University, as per her complaint.
She said SFI Ernakulam District President Arsho, District Secretary Amal, Prajith K Babu, Education Minister V Sivankutty’s personal staff member K M Arun led the mob of around 50 people. “It was a pre-planned attack. They verified the identity of AISF leaders before attacking them,” she told media persons after filing her statement.
“I went to rescue my friend from the mob when they grabbed my chest. It was an attack on my womanhood. They also hurled abuses including on my caste,” she said.
It caused me a huge trauma. This is the behaviour of RSS and ABVP. I still consider SFI workers as my co-workers. But such people are a shame to the organisation, she added.
AISF leader S Shajo contested the senate polls and KSU candidate withdrew from the contest. AISF leaders A Sahad, Rishiraj, Amal Asokan and Nimisha Raju were attacked inside the campus. They were later admitted to Kottayam Medical College.
Earlier yesterday, the woman’s video criticising police over their inactivity when her colleagues were attacked had surfaced on the social media. In another video, she is seen accompanying a man from a mob. A person from the mob is seen kicking him from the back.
Reacting to the complaint, SFI on Friday said that AISF must ‘stop spreading lies’. “The illicit AISF-KSU alliance did not happen as KSU could not decide on its candidate due to inner fights. SFI stopped AISF members from performing bogus voting which led to the fight inside the campus,” the statement reads. “AISF is desperate to garner attention by playing victimhood. They are trying to hide their embarrassment of their leader Kanhaiya Kumar joining Congress,” SFI said.
