Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress vice president KS Sabarinadhan on Tuesday slammed the government over his arrest in connection with the Youth Congress protest against Chief Minister inside a flight. He alleged that it was only a fabricated case showing the "cowardness" of CM.

Three youth congress workers staged a protest against the Chief Minister inside an IndiGo flight bound to Thiruvananthapuram from Kannur on June 13. Following this, it was alleged that a senior Congress leader was the key conspirator behind the protest. Subsequently, he was arrested by the police on Tuesday after a WhatsApp group chat allegedly belonging to Youth Congress revealed the conspiracy behind the attack.

"No case was registered against EP Jayarajan, who attacked the protesters inside the flight. However, they charged me with an attempt to murder. The arrest was politically motivated," he said. He added that his party would legally and politically fight against the case.

Meanwhile, he was shifted to AR Camp after a medical examination. It is learnt that he would be produced before the court by 3:30 pm on Tuesday.

Thiruvananthapuram District Court also sought a report from the state government regarding the time of his arrest. The government pleader announced the arrest while the court was considering the anticipatory bail plea of Sabarinadhan. The government pleader informed about the arrest minutes after the court directed the state not to take action in the case. Meanwhile, Sabarinadhan told the media that he was arrested only at 12:30 pm.

Meanwhile, youth congress president Shafi Parambil said that the government pleader informed the court about the arrest only at 11:45 am. Shafi also dismissed the arrest and called it "fake", just like the case.
