Kumali: Much to the respite of the residents, Arikomban was not spotted in the residential areas of Meghamalai on Saturday and Sunday. The animal is believed to have moved into the deep forests of Meghamalai. Forest officials are closely monitoring the situation.

The divisions under Meghamalai estate include Meghamalai, Highways, Manalar, Melmanalar, Vanniyar, Maharaja Mettu and Iravangalar. All these regions are adjacent to the forest.

The tusker which had crossed the Kerala border for the third time and moved to Meghamalai has not returned so far.

Meanwhile, officials in Tamil Nadu have raised their concern over difficulty in receiving signals from the radio collar attached to the tusker.
