Tamil Nadu: ‘Arikomban’--the rogue elephant which was translocated from Idukki's Chinnakanal region to Periyar Tiger Reserve, 'visited' a ration shop in Meghamalai region here on Sunday. The jumbo reportedly attempted to open the door of the shop near Manalar Estate.
The incident took place around 6 pm. However, the elephant did not raid or damage the shop. It went back a few minutes later, the Tamil Nadu forest department confirmed.
The tusker had been roaming around Ananda Estate near Meghamalai for the past few days. The new development comes at this juncture. It will be a major relief for Kerala and Tamil Nadu equally if Arikomban returns to Periyar Tiger Reserve.
