Areekode honour killing case: Man accused of murdering daughter acquitted
Malappuram: The Manjeri Additional Sessions Court on Tuesday acquitted a man who killed his daughter, who had decided to marry a youth belonging to another caste, on the wedding eve.
The Court acquitted Rajan of Poovathikkandi in Areekode, who was accused of murdering his daughter Athira.
Athira was in love with a youth from another caste and had decided to marry him. Athira, who had eloped with her lover, returned to her house following police intervention as Rajan agreed to their wedding.
However, an inebriated Rajan stabbed Athira to death on her wedding eve.
