Aranmula: CPM Area Committee member suspended for alleged sexual assault

Aranmula: Aranmula police have registered a case against Jacob Tharian, a CPM area committee member of Kozhencherry, for alleged sexual assault on a co-worker. Tharian has been suspended from his position.

The accused, who is said to have used foul language, made improper advances after visiting the victim who was alone at home. Jacob is charged with non bailable offense. As per IPC 164, the police submitted a request to Pathanamthitta Chief Judicial Magistrate for hearing.

CPM had earlier launched an investigation into the matter as per the complaint given by the victim to Mallapuzhassery local committee. The investigation was headed by CPM district committee members Babu Koyikkalethu, R. Ajay Kumar, and Mahila Association District President VG Srilekha.

However as the investigation dragged on, the woman finally approached the Aranmula police.
