Kochi: MLA KT Jaleel stated that he has never demanded a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the AR Nagar Bank scam. He said that he did not have the opinion that ED intervention is necessary in the cooperative banks in the state.
Jaleel added that the investigation by the Cooperation Department into the discrepancies in banks is satisfactory. Jaleel was addressing the media after submitting the documents related to Chandrika money laundering scandal in the ED office here.
Denying his previous comments, Jaleel said that the case regarding AR Nagar Bank comes under the purview of the Cooperation Department and the ED has asked him to turn up on the grounds of Chandrika case.
The probe into the AR Nagar bank case was delayed as the bank obtained a stay from the court. As the stay is withdrawn, the government will go ahead with prompt action against the offenders, said Jaleel.
Jaleel clarified that his visit to the Chief Minister was only a casual one. Jaleel asserted that he will definitely be backed by CPM and other Left parties in his battle against the irregularities of Muslim League. CPM Secretary A Vijayaraghavan has also made it clear, said the MLA.
