Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has sought an explanation from Industries Minister E P Jayarajan on the appointment of leaders’ kin to top posts in PSUs. An explanation has been sought into all appointments made in the Industries Department. This comes after a meeting held at the AKG Centre between Kodiyeri and E P Jayarajan prior to the CPM state meet on Friday.

The party secretary, who was out of town when the issue snowballed into a major controversy, was apprised by the Industries Minister on Wednesday. Both met for about an hour to discuss the matter.

The CPM central unit has sought corrective measures into the appointment row. In the midst of varied opinions existing within party functionaries, it is learnt that Kodiyeri might present the report at the Secretariat along with Jayarajan’s explanation. Even CPM central committee member M C Josephine had filed a complaint to Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Though five persons who are secretariat members have been involved in the appointment row, the allegations raised against Jayarajan is of serious nature. Discussions relating whether party-level action or a government-level action is needed is gaining grounds.
