Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday stayed the proceedings in the case registered against former Industries Minister E P Jayarajan in connection with the appointment of his relative in a public sector undertaking.
The court said the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) can take a decision on conducting the further probe into the case.
The stay will be lifted only if the Vigilance want to pursue the case, it said while considering a plea to quash the investigation.
Earlier, the court had imposed a temporary stay on the further probe into the case. This has been extended today.
The Vigilance had earlier informed the court that the charges would not fall under the ambit of Prevention of Corruption Act since the accused has not received any financial benefit.
The agency added that an FIR was registered according to the stance taken by the investigating officer.
