Applicants unable to appear for driving test with new regulations
Applicants are not able to appear for driving license tests although it was restarted after the lockdown. This is because, as per the new regulation, a certificate from panchayat/ municipality or health department should be produced before appearing for the test. Applicants will not be able to appear for the tests without this certificate even if they have been given their test dates.
Government had included certain regulations when driving tests were resumed post-lockdown. The applicants have to produce certificates from Panchayat/ Municipality secretary or health departments stating that they are not from containment zones and do not have any health problems.
However, applicants find it hard to obtain these certificates from authorities in most places as they are really busy. Applicants usually approach the authorities after they have received the date of their driving test. The date of driving tests has been extended till December including those who received their test dates before COVID.
Only a few people are attending the driving tests on a daily basis due to this. Applicants and driving school owners are worried about how the tests will be completed for the remaining applicants by December. Applicants who have received their test dates have demanded that submission of these certificates should be avoided.
