Note to those applying for a new driving licence on PetG card: If the address on the licence is incorrect, the new licence must be collected by visiting the Motor Vehicle Department's centralised distribution centre in Thevara, Kochi. The licence will be given only if the applicant appears in person with the necessary documents. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that the address provided during the application process is correct.

Existing licence holders can also apply for a new licence by paying a fee of Rs 200 and postage. A fee of 1,200 must be paid after one year. Hence, there has been a significant increase in the number of applications, leading to longer processing times.

There have been cases where the address information was lost or incomplete during the transfer of old records to the new system. Therefore, it is important to provide accurate information during the application process, including a correct mobile number, which will allow licence holders to track the progress of their application accurately.

In the past, licences were issued from respective offices, but the system has now changed, and licences are issued from the centralised distribution centre. Although efforts have been made to send the licence back to their respective offices, this has not been implemented yet.
