Thiruvananthapuram: Though bars were reopened, mobile application has been made mandatory for liquor sales through Beverages Corporation (Bevco) outlets.

It has been directed that only those who have token should be given liquor. Beverages MD Sparjan Kumar directed that booking via mobile app should be rearranged according to the new schedule of the outlets.

The app will be redesigned in order to continue giving tokens till 9 pm. The decision to continue mobile app was taken in order to reduce crowd in front of the shops.

The Beverages Corporation was not instructed to stop using the app. After permission was granted to serve liquor in bars, they had stopped giving liquor as parcel.

However, many people still depend on bars as Bevco refuse to sell liquor without token. Many bars still sell liquor in bottles. The Excise Department should take action against this.
