Child adoption case: Report blames CWC for severe lapses

Anupama, Shiju Khan

Thiruvananthapuram: The departmental probe report led by Women and Child Development Department director TV Anupama has pointed out severe lapses from the part of Child Welfare Committee in the child adoption case. The report will be handed over to the health minister Veena George very soon. Though Anupama and Ajith approached the CWC to get back their child, the committee did not take any measures to stop the proceedures of adoption, as pointed out in the report.

Anupama had approached CWC claiming her child on August 11. It was on August 6 that the adoption committee decided to give the baby up for adoption and on the next day itself gave the child to an Andhra couple. Even after Anupama petitioned CWC and met secretary Shiju Khan and many others, the committee went on with the adoption procedures. In relation to the case, CWC submitted an affidavit in the court on August 16.
