Anupama demands criminal case to be booked against CWC official; to write to CM
Thiruvanthapuram: In the controversial child adoption case, Anupama Chandran has demanded to book Child Welfare Committee general secretary Shiju Khan for criminal offence. She will write to the Chief Minister seeking action against the CWC official.
“Why don’t the police register a criminal case against Shiju Khan. As per law, CWC is not empowered to approve child adoption. So, CWC was involved in child trafficking,” alleged Anupama.
Action should be taken against Shiju Khan as CWC is not licensed to permit child adoption, she added.
“I decided to write to CM hoping that police will take action against Shiju Khan,” Anupama pointed out.
On Saturday, CWC representatives have received the one-year-old boy who is suspected to be the child of Anupama S Chandran from his foster parents in Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier, the court raised sharp criticism against the Child Welfare Committee for carrying out the adoption process without the consent of the baby’s mother. The CWC also ignored the court’s direction to produce the original license to function as an adoption agency.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that CWC’s license issued by the state adoption regulatory authority expired in 2016. The court was provoked by the CWC’s negligence to produce the original license and issued strict direction to produce the same.
