Thiruvananthapuram: Giving relief to Anupama, the Family Court has stayed the legal procedures related to the adoption of her child. The court demanded that it should be clarified if the baby was abandoned or handed over.
The government and the Child Welfare Committee had requested the court to temporarily stay the adoption procedures and filed a plea in this regard. The court stayed the procedures following this. It is learnt that a couple from Andhra Pradesh adopted the baby.
The Child Welfare Committee has informed the court that the baby was abandoned. However, the government pleader informed the court that the major issue is surrounding the fact that if the baby was abandoned or handed over.
The government has announced a probe into this. So, the adoption procedure should be stayed temporarily until the fact is verified. With this, the court accepted this argument and stayed the procedures.
Anupama S Chandran had earlier alleged that her baby was taken away by her parents three days after delivery as they did not approve her partner. Though they promised her to bring back the baby after her sister's wedding, she did not get the child back. Following this, she filed a complaint which was not taken seriously first. Later, when the media took up the issue, the government and authorities intervened in the matter and approached the court.
