Kochi: A sculptor who made sculptures for fraudster Monson Mavunkal has come up with a complaint against him. Thiruvananthapuram native Suresh complained that Monson failed to pay him Rs 70 lakh for making the sculptures. He told Mathrubhumi News that he was unaware of Monson’s fraudulent activities.

Suresh said that he contacted Monson via online through his relative in America. He added that he knew him since December 2018. Monson purchased 6 sculptures promising to complete the payment within one and a half month, Suresh added.

“Monson paid Rs 7 lakh and is yet to give Rs 70 lakh. Rs 7 lakh was given when I was undergoing treatment following a heart disease. He offered to give the remaining amount later but never did it. I made the sculptures on wood. After purchasing them, Monson painted and modified some of them,” Suresh said.

The sculptor stated that he realized that Monson was a fraudster only after seeing the media reports. With this, the complaint was filed with Crime Branch demanding to get back the sculptures, he said.
