Kochi: The Crime Branch has recorded the statement of State Police Chief Anil Kant in connection with the case of antique fraudster Monson Mavunkal. Monson had come to the police headquarters to meet Anil Kant after he took charge as the Police Chief. He came along with Pravasi Malayali Federation office-bearers.

According to the DGP’s statement, he had given permission to the six office bearers of the Pravasi Malayali Federation to meet him. Before leaving, Monson had presented him a gift. While clicking a photo of the event, all the six office bearers were there with them. The crime branch has found out that others were cropped from the picture featuring only DGP and Monson in it.

Also, it is been found out that Monson used to stay at the police club as he had contact with higher authorities. The crime branch will submit the detailed report on the Monson Mavunkal case in the high court on Tuesday.
