Kannur: An Anganwadi in Thakkara in Kannur was vandalised after anti-social elements attacked the building on Saturday. Bizarrely, the assailant also cooked rice gruel and made an omelette.
The attacker broke into the building and damaged the window grills and floor tiles. This is the third time the same Anganwadi is facing attack from anti-social elements. In the last two attempts, the intruder cooked food and left without vandalising the property. However, that was not the case on Saturday.
Meanwhile, locals protested against the repeated attack on the Anganwadi and demanded immediate action from authorities.
The Anganwadi is functioning in a building previously occupied by a butcher shop. The ceiling of the building is made of fibre sheets, which permits thieves to enter rooms by cutting through it. Following the last two attacks, the authorities have ensured that Anganwadi has enough security to avoid such incidents in the future.
